Do You Need Reservations To Get Into a Disney World Park?

You do now.

Things are constantly changing for Disney Guests, and probably the biggest change has been the Disney Park Pass Reservation System at WDW.

Never heard of it? You are not alone!

It’s a new process that started on June 22, 2020, and it is required for entry to all Disney parks.

Will Walt Disney World and the Disneyland Resort Stop Requiring Theme Park Reservations?

Can we look forward to the end of WDW reservations for the theme parks? How about DLR reservations?

So far, the answer is a clear NO.

The reservations seem to work well for park planning from a business standpoint with the current CEO repeatedly saying they love the reservation program.

Guests: not as much. Planning in advance and lack of availability and flexibility seem to be the biggest complaints (no park hopping until 2 pm is a REAL drag!).

But Disney gets to make the rules: so theme park reservations are here to stay.

How To Make Walt Disney World Park Reservations In 2022

Step 1: Check the Walt Disney World Park Availability Calendar

If you want to know your chances of entering a park on any specific day, go ahead and check the park availability calendar on the Disney World website.

This will tell you what parks are green- good to go!

It will also let you know what parks are not available.

Step 2 of the Disney Park Pass Reservation System: Log Into My Disney Experience Via Desktop

You will not able to make reservations through My Disney Experience App at this time.

From the disneyworld.com landing page, choose the Disney Park Pass System from the My Disney Experience drop-down menu.

Be sure to log into disneyworld.com on your desktop using your Disney password and user email.

Step 3: Make or Modify Your Theme Park Reservations

Click the button to make or modify your theme park reservations. You have two buckets to choose from: Theme Park ticket holders and AP holders OR Disney World Resort Hotel Guests.

If you have a confirmed Disney World hotel or vacation package, you will click the link for hotel guests.

If you are an AP holder or ticket holder and not staying onsite, you choose the first option.

Step 4: Create Your Party For Disney Theme Park Reservations Tips

Choose the people you will be making reservations for at this point.

As a reminder, some theme park tickets have reservation limits.

Each Annual Pass type has a maximum number of park reservations that can be held at a time. As your park reservations are redeemed or canceled, you can book new Disney Park Pass reservations up to the maximum number allowed plus the length of your stay if staying at a Disney Resort or other select hotel. View the reservation limit for your pass below.

Step 5 of the Disney Park Pass Reservation System: Pick Your Dates and Park

You’ll choose the date you want to visit from the calendar.

Once you click on a date, the available parks will populate and you can make your choice on where to visit.

Step 5: Confirm Your Disney Parks Reservation

And the final step: check your liability waiver confirmation box at the bottom, and you are all set!

One thing to note: due to this confirmation request, Travel Agents cannot reserve your park days for you.

The reservation process is something all guests will need to navigate themselves.

After you confirm, you can view your plans or move on to the next day you wish to reserve.

Disney World Park Reservations Tips | Disney Frequently Asked Questions

When can you book your theme park reservations?

  • As soon as you have a confirmed ticket purchase! Even if you aren’t sure where you want to go, we advise making these theme park reservations early so you don’t forget— or accidentally get shut out of the park you wanted.

Can I make Disney World theme park reservations for my whole family or group?

  • You can! Even if some have Annual Passes and some have theme park tickets, you can now book everyone together at the same time. Just make sure you are connected via Friends & Family on the My Disney Experience website.

Can I cancel or change my Disney Park reservations online?

  • Absolutely! All guests can modify their theme park reservations, including dates, park, and party members (subject to availability), rather than having to cancel and re-book.

So do I buy tickets first? Or select the reservations first. My dates are all green at the moment.

As long as the dates are green, then you'll be good to buy tickets. You can't pick your date until you have the tickets purchased-- however, you def want to make sure there is availability! Have fun!
