I’m definitely what you’d call a reluctant runner. Even though I played soccer from kinder through high school, I absolutely hated to run.
If there was an excuse not to do the one-mile Presidential Fitness Test, I used it.
Makes no sense, but that’s me.
So what changed? Why do I run?
Because of these guys:
Being a mom of 4 kids can be, well, hectic. And sometimes you just need to run away (figuratively- okay and literally) to clear your head and heart a bit.
Setting that first goal of running a half-marathon was scary, but choosing the 2011 PrincessHalf Marathon made it possible.
22 half-marathons and a full marathon later, I’m a runner. A runner who runs for mental and physical health more than for times, glory or even the bling.
Though I do like a nice medal.
I’m trying to love running one step at a time. I swear I am.
But like my marathon, it’s taking a long time.
I can honestly say that running has given me a community when it comes to runDisney. I consider them my ‘Ohana.
‘Ohana means family, and family means no one gets left behind. Except for my kids because honestly, mommin’ and running do not go together for me. And that’s where the “No-Guilt” comes in.
My ‘Ohana consists of moms just like me: balancing life with work, kids, travel, and fun. They are no guilt moms, too!
They throw in a crazy costume here and there as well. Perfectly imperfect is how we roll.
