runDisney Character Stops | Star Wars Rival Run Weekend

Sharing is caring!

When it comes to running races at Disney, the number one question on everyone’s mind is who will be on the course! Fair enough; character stops is one of the ways a runDisney race stands out from all the others. Here’s a list of the possible runDisney character stops for Star Wars Rival Run Weekend.

Time to STAY ON TARGET, Star Wars fans! We’ve got the Star Wars Rival Run weekend just around the corner.

Costumes: check!

Training: check! (errr… I hope?)

Planning those character stops: check! Let’s get you prepared for who you might see on the Star Wars Rival Run Weekend racecourse.

Will There Only Be Star Wars Characters on the Rival Run Course?

Short answer: YES. All Star Wars, all weekend long.

This is the 4th year of runDisney Star Wars races at Walt Disney World and so far, there have only been Star Wars characters on the course.

No Mickey, no Minnie, no Princesses. Except maybe a Princess Leia or two from the 501st Cos-player group.

And Star Wars costumes on the Fab 5 characters are no longer used. Rumor says this was a request from Lucas/Kennedy/Someone-higher-than-us in the Star Wars-Disney merger a few years back. #WhompWhomp

**Photos like this are no longer available**- but dang, weren’t they cute?! I couldn’t resist adding it in the post.

Star Wars Light Side weekend in 2015 was the last time these characters were used in a runDisney event.

This list of runDisney characters stops is as accurate as past race experience will allow.

Sadly, runDisney doesn’t share the magic in advance, so you need to prepare to change your plans if you see someone awesome!

Let me know who else you’ve seen so I can make sure this list of characters on the runDisney Star Wars course is updated!

Star Wars 501st and Rebel Legion Volunteer Character Stops

One of the coolest fandoms in the WORLD is the Star Wars fandom. While I’m partial to fangirling my Marvel superheroes, I do appreciate and support the crazy world that the Star Wars fans represent.

If you don’t know about the 501st Legion or the Rebel Legion, be sure to click over to their sites to learn a bit more.

These folks come out to the races every year, so while they are not “official” Disney cast members, I think you’ll agree they are AMAZING and totally rock the race for us.

The costumes are all hand made and lovingly detailed! And they love the runners. So be sure to stop, get pics, and tell them thanks for being on the course.

Star Wars Characters at the Expo

You might see the Star Wars character ops at the Expo as well!

Last year there were some Storm Troopers on patrol and in a character line. Be on the look out for this great option!

Tips for runDisney Character Pics

When you stop for one of these characters, even if you have no clue who they are, have fun with them!

But also- be kinda quick about things. Waiting in line forever while a runner tries to have a photoshoot is a good way to make the rest of your running ‘Ohana a little cranky.

Check out this video from Sarah and me about taking great runDisney race pictures for all the tips!
