Disney World Resort Fun Runs

Sharing is caring!

Running at Disney World can mean a lot of things: from runDisney races to Disney World running to trails to the new addition of Disney World resort fun runs. Never heard of them? Check this out! Here’s what you need to know about the Disney World resort fun runs: The Beignet Dash at Port Orleans French Quarter, The Southernmost Point 3K at Old Key West fun run, Seaside Sprint Fun Run at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort, The Derby Dash at Saratoga Springs Resort, the All-Stars and Icons Fun Run at All Star Movies, and the Fort Wilderness fun runs. Exercise doesn’t stop just because you’re on vacation- especially if you’re in training. And when you’re traveling somewhere new like the Disney World resort, you might wonder what your running options are.

Disney World offers a few options for runners including the runDisney race events and the New Balance running trails. But the most fun way to get your exercise on at Disney World can be found with the new addition of Disney World resort fun runs.

The Disney World resort fun runs offer short distances, low prices, and some fun swag, too! Here’s what you need to know about running the fun runs at Disney.

Important note: all times and locations should be confirmed with the host resorts. Things can (and do!) change! But we’re doing our best to keep the information as updated as possible.

Disney World Resorts Fun Runs

When we go to Disney World around here, chances are it’s for a runDisney event. Sarah and I both love them and, well, it’s hard to keep us away!

Running at Disney World is just what we do, so even when we’re there on a non-runDisney weekend we look for a place to get a few miles in. While there are some awesome Disney World New Balance running trails out there, we found the lack of medals and overall support disappointing. Ha.

I mean, if we’re going to run on vacation, we need people cheering on that uber-healthy choice.

But the resorts are coming through in a big way with the trend to offer different Disney World resort fun runs! Here are a few to check out with some frequently asked questions about them as well.

Did you know about the Disney World Resort Fun Runs? Derby Dash, Beignet Dash, Southernmost Point 3K, are just a few! #DisneyWorld #running #runDisney #disneytravel #disneytips #traveltips #familytravel

The Southernmost Point 3K: Old Key West Fun Run

We stayed at Old Key West resort earlier this year and it was lovely! But we were there for a runDisney event so definitely not interested in the Southernmost Point 3K fun run.

I mean, let’s not get too crazy with this running on vacation stuff!

This resort is gorgeous, by the way!

The Derby Dash: Saratoga Springs Fun Run

One of the most scenic resorts to stay at is the Saratoga Springs Resort. It’s huge and peaceful and a perfect place to throw down a quick 1.4 Derby Dash.

Especially if your last name is Furlong. (Thanks, Jill, this one made me laugh!)

Seasonal Fort Wilderness Fun Runs

There’s been a few of these over the last couple of years being held at Fort Wilderness.

They appear to be tied to holidays such as Halloween and most recently Fourth of July. Here’s the info on the 4th of July 5K for historical purposes.

Seasonal Disney World resort fun runs are held at Fort Wilderness Resort. 5Ks and 2-mile options.

  • The Fourth of July 5K Fun Run at Fort Wilderness
  • Happened on Tuesday, July 3
  • Starts at 7:30 AM in the field next to Mickey’s Backyard BBQ
  • Pre-registration available June 24-30 from 9 AM – 5 PM at the Fort Wilderness Bike Barn.
  • Day of registration 7 AM
  • Swag: Fort Wilderness Keychain & water

This would be a great place to run since there are so much shade and so many trail options! Be sure to check with the resort if this is on your Disney running bucket list.

Fort Wilderness Reception

The Pineapple Dash at the Polynesian

This one has only happened twice (Happy 4th of July!) but the resort hopes to make it a recurring run during the holidays.

  • The Pineapple Dash
  • Happened on July 4
  • Starts at 8:30 AM
  • Day of registration 8 AM
  • Swag: bib, finish line lei, and complimentary Dole Whip. YES, WILL RUN FOR DOLE WHIPS!

Yacht Club/Beach Club Regatta Run

When my friend Diane was running the Seaside Sprint this week, she had a chance to chat up the cast members running the event.

Seems like they love them as much as the Disney runners do! They gave her a heads up that this one was happening: and it went on the September calendar for the resorts.

Seaside Sprint Disney World Resort fun run at Boardwalk resort

This fun run happens at the Beach/Yacht Club on Thursday mornings.

It also sounds like the Yacht/Beach Club and Boardwalk Inn might combine forces to offer a challenge in coming months! Will keep you posted if we hear more on that.

  • The Regatta Run 1.86 miles
  • $15
  • Thursdays 8:00 AM
  • Ages 3 and up
  • Contact 407-721-5304 for more information
  • Swag: bib, gift bag filled with Yacht & Beach Club Resort sunglasses and an exclusive pin. It’s shaped like a lighthouse with a ship steering wheel in the back- and it spins!

Walt Disney World Resort Fun Run Challenge

And Diane also reports that the resorts are talking about some kind of challenge option as well. Run them all and get something special? Sounds like they know what Disney runners like!

If I was setting this up, I think it would need to be an ongoing option (like, run them all within 12 months and get the special challenge swag).

I know there are folks who will do them all in a week at Disney World, but most of us aren’t lucky enough to stay for a week at a time.

What would your idea of a Walt Disney World resort fun run challenge look like? I’d love to know!

Will keep you posted on things as they develop, of course!

Let me know if you have more deets on the Beignet Dash at Port Orleans French Quarter, The Southernmost Point 3K at Old Key West fun run, Seaside Sprint Fun Run at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort, The Derby Dash at Saratoga Springs Resort, the All-Stars and Icons Fun Run at All-Star Movies, or the Fort Wilderness fun runs.

Got any other Walt Disney World resort fun runs? Tell me about them so I can add it to the list!

And if you’re heading to Disneyland, don’t forget the Get Up & Go Power Walk offered at the Grand Californian for onsite guests!
