2020 Marathon Weekend Returns With Classic Disney Characters

Always a fun day around here: runDisney announcement day. And today is a biggie!

The 2020 Marathon Weekend themes have been confirmed via the runDisney blog. And the rumors were true: Minnie Mouse is not the featured character for the 2020 Walt Disney World Marathon 10K.

And I’m going to guess there will be some feelings over this announcement.

Here’s what we do know.

Walt Disney World 5K is Pluto; Walt Disney World 10K is Now Oswald

Pluto is back in the 5K. But last year’s 5K featured character isn’t gone, he’s just moved over to the 10K distance!

That’s right: Oswald the Lucky Rabbit is on the 10K medal, merchandise, and shirts this year.

And we’re all looking a little retro here!

While these haven’t been announced as the shirt designs, they look like strong contenders.

But— why does the 10K have all 4 parks on it? There’s no way we’re hitting all 4 in a 10K, so this is a bit… odd.

Donald is back in the Half Marathon spot- and you gotta love the look on his face here!

But the big news is Minnie Mouse. She’s joining Mickey on the Marathon medal, shirt, and merchandise this year. I think it’s kinda cute and a fun way to change things up for 2020.

Goofy and Dopey Designs

Goofy and Dopey are back and cute as always. I do love the colors on these designs, don’t you?

Goofy looks like he’s been working on his form – ha!

And since it’s such a big anniversary for Goofy (15 years, y’all), he’s getting two features!

He’ll also be on the kid’s races.

What do you think? Are you excited to runDisney this January and earn some epic retro swag?!
