Sum It Up Sunday

I don’t know about y’all, but this week went by fast. That’s not a bad thing.  I happen to hate the month of October for many reasons, so the quicker we get to Halloween, the happier this Shenanigans is going to be.

Changes? What changes?
Oh… THOSE changes.  It was one of those late night decisions that are made on the spur of the moment.  Like cutting bangs or coloring your hair. Sometimes, it’s not the best idea.  But this change is working for me.

Gone is the red polka dots and here to stay (for now) are the gray chevrons.  I am a woman, and I reserve the right to change my mind as needed.  I also adjusted some of the page widths, so this means many of the older posts are, frankly, horrible looking.  I’ll get around to adjusting images and widths when I can but if you happen across a page that needs attention, please leave me a comment on that page.  Yo, Shenanigans, fix this! My eyes hurt!  I’ll get the message and make it all pretty again.

And More New Stuff
I vlogged for the first time this week.  It’s been an interesting response.  First- thank you for not pointing out how hot I do not look in this video.  You are kind.  Second- the bloggers out there reading seem to “get it” and like it a little more than the folks not blogging. I think that’s because we all got the same super secret blogger memo: vlogging is the next step to increase readership.

Yet… most readers I asked, aren’t into them.

So where does that leave me and my blog?  I don’t know.  Truth be told, I liked doing it and enjoyed the process of editing and posting a vlog.  And of course if “they say” it brings readers, well, what blogger isn’t happy to increase readership?

BUT.

And this is a huge but to me- if y’all aren’t into them and have no interest in seeing and hearing me, then why should I bother?

Still processing this one.  I may put one up here and there, but no fears y’all, I’m not going to change the blog to the Shenanigans YouTube-A-Rama.  If there’s something that would make a good vlog then I’ll add it to a post.  But I promise not to over saturate you— with me.

runDisney
Super excited about how well the Tower of Terror 10-Miler went down last weekend.  And of course, this just fanned the flames of excitement over Wine and Dine in a couple of weeks.  I’m most curious to see how the new corral system works out from a back of the packer perspective.  I’ll be sure to take note of things and report back of course.  I can’t wait to earn this brand new bling!

Looking forward, I have some trepidation about the winter races.  Reports are coming out that many people submitting their proof of time to Track Shack, the company that runs the races for Disney, are not getting timely responses.  I’ve even been told that Track Shack confirmed they only have two people working the emails.  TWO.  Y’all, I don’t know about you, but doesn’t that seem a little skimpy? Especially with three very large race weekends looming and their proof of time deadlines looming.  #TimeToHireSomeTemps

I’m not trying to start a panic.  BUT.  I do want to remind you that there will not be any changes at expos starting with 2014 races.  Please make sure to submit any times you need for corral placement before November 1 for Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend and Tinker Bell Half Weekend. December 1 is the deadline for the Princess Half Weekend.

Alright- it’s that time again.  Off to run.  I saved up a few Glee episodes for this very reason.  The treadmill calls my name! My goal?  To be this guy:

Did you make it through Glee without crying?

    1. Yeah- it sounds a bit chaotic. I’d make sure to follow up before the deadline if you don’t hear back. Second email, then call if that doesn’t get a response. I hate to bug them, as this has to be crazy! But I’d also hate to see the heartbreak of a sub 1 hr 10K submission getting put back in the end corrals when they do NOT belong there! Good luck!

  1. I like the chevron, Patty! I’m excited to hear about how the corrals work for you. I’m a middle-of-the-pack as far as I can tell for the PHM, so I’m interested to see if these changes help. Of course I have never run the PHM (it’s my first half) so other than what I read from the last couple years, I won’t be able to tell anyway, right?! 😉 I have heard some stuff about no responses as well as someone that got the response that they ALREADY submitted a time (as in you cannot do it twice?) and I’m glad that I had my 10K time to submit when I registered. At least if something goes wrong when I try to submit a better time, I will have that still.

    1. Exactly- that’s really the best option if you can have a 10K to submit at registration. First half- EXCITING! PHM was my first half too and honestly, runDisney kinda spoils you for other races as far as the entertainment value is concerned. I’m glad you like the chevron too! It’s growing on me.

  2. I made it to the second song before crying!! I didn’t love the episode as a whole, but I did cry . . . a lot! Just seeing Lea Michele broke my heart.

And Oh crap!! About Tink! At this point I am hoping to be even be SIGNED UP by November 1st!! Totally not going that way. again.

  3. I really like your new look! I like they gray, and I like the lime.

I’m not the biggest Glee fan, but I made it only about 6 minutes before crying. I’m a sappy sucker for crying. My daughter mocks me all the time for this. If I see someone else cry, the waterworks automatically start for me…

  4. I made it until Lea sang, then I cried. But I agree with Summer, not a fan of the episode really. It’s been a long time since I’ve watched the show though, so I didn’t recognize half the people.

    1. I desensitized myself by listening to the songs individually last week. I made it through without crying. Mecedes, Santana and Rachel were amazing though. And I totally called it about Mr. S being the one with the thing (in case anyone else has it on dvr) lol

  5. You made it through Glee without crying?? Have you no soul? Dude, I started crying as soon as the credits for the X-Factor rolled and didn’t stop until the show ended. I had breaks where I was only teary eyed and not full on sobbing, but that’s as good as it got.

  6. Love your blog changes – very cute! Sadly, I did not make it through the Finn episode without crying… I made it until Santana’s song then all downhill from there lol

  7. Ha! I definitely did NOT make it through without crying! Mercedes had me going with her first song. But I had to grab the whole tissue box during the scene where they cleaned out his room and the Mom broke down. 🙁
