2016 Princess Half Marathon Round-Up | Tuesdays on the Run
This week’s Tuesdays on the Run topic is “how do you choose your races?”
I’m always interested in learning how other runners dissect the race schedule before them. With so many options to choose from in the USA these days, the reasons behind why you pick a race have got to be varied as well!
So shout them out, and link-up with Erika, Marcia and me this week. You can also add any running related blog post to the link-up.
2016 Princess Half Marathon Round-Up
This is somewhat on topic for Tuesdays on the Run this week. Choosing what races you plan to run in 2017 might include the runDisney Princess Half.
If you are on the fence about Princess Half Marathon this year, this post might help get you over it (or under it- or just give it a wide berth altogether!).
It is time for the Annual Princess Half Marathon race recap round-up.
Registration happens for Annual Passholders and DVC members on July 5th (today!) and is just around the corner for the general public (July 12th at noon ET). Typically these races sell out the same day, but runDisney has been slow to sell this year, so who knows?
If you do get shut out or need help planning your trip, I’ve got bibs through my agency, and we are THRILLED to make your miles as magical as possible. Send me an email at [email protected]
I’m always on the fence for this race.
And then I look back at my pictures or recaps and, well, I’ll see you in February!
Princess is probably the most controversial of the runDisney races. People aren’t entirely sold on the “girl power” races; they find the etiquette to be worse than most races, and overall the course is more crowded.
If you aren’t sure if it’s a good fit for you, check out this post. It’s my no-BS rundown of what happens at the Princess Half.
That being said, I keep going back. And so do plenty of others. Either we’re big ol’ runDisney suckers, or there’s something magical going on during this weekend.
In my case, well… I’ll admit to a little of both. The friends I run with make all the potential issues worth it for me.
This annual roundup has been pretty popular around this time, and again when the race gets closer.
I’ve shared these posts for the last couple of years, and it seems especially useful for the new princess runner. If you know someone who would like to know more about running at Disney for the Princess, please share this link!
And if you’ve got a link not included in this list, please add it in the comments.
Happy running, Princesses!

Patty Holliday has been running Disney since 2011. She knows just about every tip, trick, and hack there is to cover the runDisney Magical Miles at Disney World and Disneyland. She knows every mile isn’t *always* magical- but with training, tips, and a little bit of pixie dust, they can be a lot of fun! You can also find her at noguiltlife.com and noguiltfangirl.com
The Princess Half is a race I’ve considered since the beginning of time, yet somehow have never run. I will definitely keep in mind you’ve got bibs, just in case 2017 is the year!
Let me know if I can help! And you’d kick butt at this one- corral placement makes all the difference in this race!
Thanks for sharing my recap links! I appreciate it and look forward to reading the others. PHM does have its flaws, but like you, I’ll keep coming back. As my first half marathon and runDisney race, it will always have a special spot in my heart! 🙂
