Registration Tips for Tinker Bell Half Marathon
ETA: Magical Miles Travel has bibs available for the 2017 Tinker Bell Half Marathon! Let us help you runDisney.
We can also book your rooms or help with discounted tickets even if you no longer need a bib. Shoot me an email [email protected] and I’ll be happy to help you plan your Mother’s Day travels.
Your credit card has one more runDisney workout this year: the Tinker Bell Half Marathon goes on sale today!
* I say one more, but you never know with runDisney— there could be an Evil Empire working behind the scenes readying yet another race for us! I’ll keep you posted as always!
I’ve put together a few registration tips for Tinker Bell Half Marathon in this post. With these races becoming more and more popular, I feel like it’s important to know the dates and have the information you will need handy.
I predicted a slower sell out for Tink this year, just like last year.
The move to May and Mother’s Day isn’t as popular with the old-time Tink runners though there are plenty of new folks ready to take their place!
The Challenge spots will go quickly with the 5K (for the whole family) going soon after.
A point to note: this is an anniversary race! The 5th year of the Tinker Bell means a new medal and that could help in a faster than normal sell out. Hope you get the race you are hoping for!
Will your Mother’s Day be pixie dusted? Are you registering for the Tinker Bell Half weekend?
Patty Holliday has been running Disney since 2011. She knows just about every tip, trick, and hack there is to cover the runDisney Magical Miles at Disney World and Disneyland. She knows every mile isn’t *always* magical- but with training, tips, and a little bit of pixie dust, they can be a lot of fun! You can also find her at noguiltlife.com and noguiltfangirl.com
Going for early DVC registration this week. Was only going to do the half, but since I am doing the Glass Slipper and C2C I might as well make the VISA people happy and sign up for the Pixie Dust Challenge. This will probably be the only time I do it, so might as well do it all the way, right?
You know it!
We plan to do Tinkerbell next year only because it IS in May next year. There may be a lot more “new” people who like the new date better ( ones that could never go in January) so I’m not too sure that it won’t sell out too! Makes me kind of nervous actually. Registering for a Disneyland race is all new territory for me! Since I don’t like to fly very far, I figure this might be the only Disneyland race I do. What is the Pixie Dust Challenge?
Oh, it will sell out. I just don’t think it will be within the first 30 minutes of opening!
Pixie Dust Challenge is the 10k and half back to back.
The challenge will see fastest for sure so if that’s what you want it’s really important to register as soon as it opens.
Great tips as always! This will be my first Tink–and my mom will be there running her first 10k. Hoping for good registration luck so we both get in 🙂
Good luck- I hope it runs smoothly for you!
Thanks Patty for putting all of this information in one spot… I have already forwarded this on to a few of my friends who are planning on being at TINK. Very helpful! This will be my 3rd TINK… so excited about the addition of the CHALLENGE! Since I ran both the 10K and the Half last year … I think I will take 2 of the challenge medals this time to make up for last year and them jipping us – ha ha! Anyway – just wanted to say think you for your helpful post and your blog too… fun reads!
Take 3! I need one! LOL
what is dvc and ap? thanks!
Dvc= Disney vacation club (timeshare owners) and AP= annual passholders
just signed up my son and 2 nieces for the kids run!
Weee! Just seeing that there is a Challenge for next year. I somewhat block out all the RunDisney stuff until it gets close to reg. for the race I want or closer to the race day. hah I planned to do the 10K (a bit sad I did not do it this year bc the medal was pretty) and Half next year so the Challenge it is for me. I LOVE the Tink race and am pretty sure it will become an Annual race for me, even though the Husband said this year (our first Tink)was his first and last. He doesn’t like being pushed back to Coral B bc he’s a guy. Says it’s too many people to run through from A when B is able to go.
btw – did you change your blog name? I’ll admit I have not checked it recently..but for some reason I thought it had a different name..
if you haven’t already registered for the pixie dust challenge you’re unfortunately out of luck. sold out fast at the presale
Only the Presale slots sold out. There’s still 90% pixie dust challenge slots going on sale Tuesday!
Yup, Patty is correct, they do not release ALL spots during the pre-sales. I’ll be on the computer at 10am (when it opens for my time) exactly to get my spot. And if I don’t get a Pixie Dust challenge spot, I’m not going to shed any tears over it, I’ll just do the Half and 10k as planned w/o the extra medal. 🙂
So just how fast will the half sell out? Its my daughters first day of preschool that day which starts at 9! So I am torn. Do I send my husband and miss out on it so that I can register? Or when I get home at 9:30am will I still be in the clear to sign up? Ive never signed up for a Disney run before so I have no clue as far as how fast these things sell out.
If you just want the half marathon I think you will be fine registering at 9:30. The challenge will go very fast as the Presale showed us. But the half only presales are still wide open!
Pretty sure the Half only will not sell out in 30m. You could always have your husband register you. Sign into Active and give him your shirt size etc.
Thank you. I think I will just have the site up and ready for me and take my daughter to school first. It sounds like I don’t have to be to crazy as long as I plan to do it within the hr.
I am planning on signing up myself and my husband for the challenge Tuesday. Do you think I will have problems getting both of us signed up before it sells out? He doesn’t have computer access at his work and I am nervous I will get on of us in and not the other.
Just be prepared and don’t freak out! I think it will take around 30 min to sell out. So get on right away and have everything you need. Good luck!
My first time trying to get into a challenge. I want to get in so bad that my stomach has been in knots for a week!
Thank you for the tips! Maybe one day some day I will do a Disney race. Never say never right? especially when I live so close…
Ha. Yes. Someday! 🙂
