Active websites are showing new corral placement rules happening for the Marathon weekend.
Big Changes. Huge!
Previously, proof of time was only needed if you thought you’d finish your half marathon under 2:45.
Here’s the new guidelines as showing on the Runner’s World Challenge registration page.
If you believe you will finish the Half Marathon in less than 3 hours and 15 minutes and/or the Marathon in 6 hours and 30 minutes or less, proof of time is required for start corral placement.
Please reference the Race Pacing Chart at www.rundisney.com.
Proof of time must be provided from a certified race reflecting results after January 1, 2012.
- Half Marathon – 10K or longer
- Full Marathon – 10 Miles or longer A valid proof of time provided at the time of registration must include the following*:
- Name of Race
- Distance
- City, State
- Date
- Finish time
*For example, Walt Disney World Marathon, 26.2, Orlando, FL, 1/13/13, – 3:35If you do not have a proof of time to submit, list “N/A” at the point of registration. If proof of time is not provided by November 1, 2013 you will be placed in the last start corral. If your proof of time data is incomplete or cannot be verified, you will be placed in the last start corral. To provide or update your proof of time, you must email all proof of time data requested above to [email protected]. No corral changes will be made after November 1, 2013.You will no longer be able to bring proof of time to the Runner Relations booth during the Expo and have your start corral placement changed.
- That last line right there… wow. Jaw. On. The. Floor. This is huge.
Looks like 10ks and 10 milers are going to get a lot more popular before Nov 1!

Gah. I just registered and just put my proof of time as "WDW Marathon 2013, 4:43". Are they really going to put me in the last corral because I left out "26.2, Orlando FL, 1/13/13" ?

Looks like I will have to find a 10k or 1/2 before nov 1st! I was planning on using the space coast race as my qualifier but as that is not until first weekend in dec it won't count!

I wish they wouldn't disregard the fall races- I know *I* like to run in Oct-March due to weather issues. But I understand the reasoning behind: to make sure bibs are able to print on time, and also to check every single race entry against their proof of time. That's the inside scoop I've heard. They will be checking your proof!
Thanks for reading and commenting, y'all! I appreciate it!
