How Bizarre
Ever run past something and say, wait, what?!
That’s the topic for today’s Tuesdays on the Run.
What bizarre or weird things have you witnessed happening during a race?
Remember: pictures or it didn’t happen. Ha!
Let us know what you found bizarre on the road and link up today with Erika, Marcia and me for this week’s Tuesdays on the Run.
Bringing back an oldie but a goodie! Not sure these can be topped ha!
How Bizarre
I have to admit that I’m that person. The one with the crazy story but only blurry pics. I never seem to have my camera out to catch those oh so bizarre moments.
Big ol’ blogger fail.
I’d like to claim it’s because I’m such a serious runner I never take my phone out for pics like that, but hey, who are we trying to kid here?
Luckily I have a few friends who can both run AND take pics at the same time.
From the How Bizarre files of one of my favorite running groups, I submit the following:
Shannon G found Dr. Dribble just running and doing his thing during the Goofy Challenge.
Erin: I never can get pictures!! But Jennifer and I saw a pet pig in someone’s yard once and yesterday at the gym a woman was bouncing a ping pong ball on a paddle in the locker room for over 20 minutes.
Lisa: Full bar at an aid station in the woods? Red Dirt Shuffle- Stillwater Oklahoma.
Shannon A: I have a picture of an elliptical in the middle of nowhere that I saw on a trail. Like 1.5 miles from an actual road.
Um, random?
Shannon also participated in something that certainly counts as utterly bizarre. She was part of a World Record attempt for the “most people tied together to complete a marathon.”
Yes. She ran a marathon with 81 other people tied together by ropes.
Imagine coming across this scene on your run?
And yes, they even had to stay tied together when someone needed to hit the porta potty.
So you got this view:
Aimee saw the famous Tuba Guy.
Running 26.2 while playing the tuba? Sure, why not!
Jamie: This guy!
He juggled those deflated balls the whole race (NYC Marathon).
There’ve been gorillas on the course.
Lisa saw this guy:
And Yanni found couches with Blerches.
And of course, well…
Vegas.
Nice pic, Marci!
I mean, did you expect anything less?
But I’ve got to give some special love to a special gal found by Melanie in the Princess Half corrals one year.
Once you are in these corrals, you are pretty much running with what you brought with you.
Or tossing it.
So, I imagine she made it a few miles at least with her… laptop?!
That’s a new one.
How about you? What’s the weirdest thing you’ve seen when running?
