Most of you know that I took the leap into the charity running world this year. My first charity runner experience began this summer with fundraising for the Children’s Miracle Network. It will end when I cross the finish line of my 3rd Glass Slipper Challenge in February.
If you are looking for a way to move the world with your feet, I cannot express how satisfying raising money for a cause has been for me. It’s given new meaning to the effort of training for these races, and I’m proud to be part of something bigger than myself.
My friend, Angie, wanted to share one of her favorite running charities with you today. I’ve heard nothing but glowing praises for Noah’s Light Foundation and hope some of you decide to run for the children. — Patty

Are you a runner? Or do you dream of being a runner? Start your New Year out on the right foot with a great goal for a great cause! Every year thousands of people participate in a runDisney race. There are races for all ages and all athletic levels. One of the most incredible experiences you can have with runDisney is to run on behalf of a charity. There are several charities to choose from, and each of them receives bibs to give out to people who want to raise money for their cause.
One of my favorites is Noah’s Light Foundation. As a mom, Noah’s Light Foundation’s mission hits me close to home.
Noah’s Light Foundation is a grassroots funded charity that is making a real difference by funding Phase I clinical trials for children with brain cancer. Noah’s Light Foundation was established in 2010 by Amber Larkin after her son, Noah, was treated for medulloblastoma, an aggressive form of pediatric brain cancer. After learning that few treatments for pediatric cancer had been developed in the past 30 years, Amber knew she had to act. The Foundation’s goal is to fund revolutionary, immune based research that leads to a cure. Learn more about Noah’s Light Foundation at www.noahslightfoundation.com
“Around here, however, we don’t look backward for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious…and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”
-Walt Disney
Team Noah helps make Noah’s Light Foundation’s goal of a cure for childhood cancer a reality. These dedicated runners fundraise on the Foundation’s behalf to earn their spots in runDisney races. It is through their commitment to both their races and raising funds to help children with brain cancer that Noah’s Light Foundation can support cutting edge research at MD Anderson and has helped many children travel to cities providing life-saving treatments.
You can help raise funds for these brave children by joining Team Noah and be both a princess and a fairy godmother! Runners join Team Noah and raise money to run in sold out runDisney races. Through personal online fundraising pages, athletes share their story and reasons for running with friends and family to raise the minimum needed to compete. Team Noah Captains are always available to answer questions, offer virtual support for both training and fundraising or just to chat! Team Noah runners can also enjoy virtual training options offered through a partnership with Jeff Galloway Training and Noah’s Light Foundation.
Once race time has arrived, Team Noah checks into our team’s Disney Resort for an exclusive gathering and the support of Noah’s Light Foundation staff and other runners in advance of the big race. Postrace, join your fellow runners at the Team Noah Finish Line tent to receive your thanks and the congratulations of your Captain…and, of course, an exclusive Team Noah medal!
There are still spots left on the Team Noah for the next TWO Walt Disney World Resort runDisney races! Step up and help cure pediatric brain cancer by running like a princess or facing the Dark Side!
Be sure to check out the local runner special that Noah’s Light Foundation offers. This lowercost alternative provides many of the same great benefits if you live close by.
