Monday Motivation? Yes Please
As you may know, I’m seriously lacking in motivation lately.
The heat. The injury. The dog days of summer. It’s all getting to me. Are you in the same boat?
But today is Monday- and almost August- and I’m ready to get moving. Why the sudden urge to get my act together?
Gulp. Thirty. One. Days.
I’m so screwed. But I said this was going to be a positive, motivational post, right? So lets see what we can do to look at the good going on in the next month.
I’m going to Disney World!
No, not a typo. I really am going to Disney World first- and that’s coming on fast. Mr. Shenanigans is graduating with his Masters in Fine Arts in 2 weeks. In OR-LAAAANNNNDOOOO. Hey now, we can’t pass that one up, right? We’re heading to town for a couple of days to celebrate- at the happiest place on earth, of course! It will be our first stay at the Grand Floridian resort, and we are really looking forward to being adults together at Disney. Hey-O!
I’m going to Disneyland!
But you knew that. The whole race-that-shall-not-be-named and all that. Since it’s not going to be much of a race for me and I’m still clearly pouting about it… okay, moving on… DISNEYLAND! I’m so looking forward to showing Mr. Shenanigans around. He’s never been, y’all. I know, can you believe it? Any MUST see tips for him?
I’m going to Club 33
Thanks to a friend of a friend, who are both generous and beautiful people inside and out, I’m going back. I wonder if they will remember me?
And most importantly…
BACK TO SCHOOL this month
Can all the moms/dads out there say AMEN with me? The kids get bored, they get hot, they get cranky, they get to me. I love my sweet special snowflakes, but I don’t home school. For a reason.
Even little #OhLucy will be heading to preschool this fall. I’m excited for the new beginnings for all of them.
So there’s the rundown of what’s to look forward to this month. How about some fun motivation for the big thing hanging over my head right now?
He’s making this look FUN. Which is what I need to remember. This is supposed to be FUN. It’s DISNEYLAND. How can it NOT be, right?! I’m really excited about the course and the people lining the route. I’m going to need you, So Cal Peeps! I’m sure you won’t disappoint!
Patty Holliday has been running Disney since 2011. She knows just about every tip, trick, and hack there is to cover the runDisney Magical Miles at Disney World and Disneyland. She knows every mile isn’t *always* magical- but with training, tips, and a little bit of pixie dust, they can be a lot of fun! You can also find her at noguiltlife.com and noguiltfangirl.com
Disney World, Disneyland AND Club 33 (again!!) ?!! I am seriously jealous! You are living the good life!!! 🙂
Yeah- I really am. NO MORE WHINING, right?! I’m so lucky. Really totally in every way.
Well… You do have to complete that 19.3 miles to get your medals, so… a little whining is allowed. 😉
It’s gonna be a fun month for y’all!! I can’t wait to read recaps about everything!
Thanks Lauren! It really is going to be GREAT!
Your lack of motivation concerns are completely valid…they are similar to the roadblocks I think I will be dealing with in November, in the crunch months leading up to Dopey. Last year leading up to WDWmarathon’13, family time during the holidays always trumped getting my miles in and then I didn’t have any clothes for the colder temps. I am hoping the “growth” I have had over the last year will make the holiday season much easier to get my training in. — For you, if nothing else, maybe you could walk your miles while still injured? Maybe check out those 110% Compression tights where you can ice your IT bands more frequently?
Oh- good idea Jill. I’ve just been doing nothing, but I bet I could be walking. On the TM so it’s steady flat surface, and not too hard on my legs. I am up for a long one this week (back to back longish ones) and was feeling terrible about missing it. I’ll check with PT- but with compression and KT and walking… maybe that will get me out of my funk!
Yes- holidays and marathon/Dopey training… I do not envy you girl! So hard! But you’ll rock it!
You will do it and shine! Just keep doing what you are doing…..you got this. 🙂 Glad you are going to PT!
Thanks for cheering me on Julie! I want that BIG D medal! So pretty!!
Oh yes, the heat’s gotten to me. I’m not training for any fall races, but I can definitely tell when it’s hot and I have no motivation, at work, at home, at the gym.
Oh good- not just me. Man, I used to LOVE the heat. But I’m kinda over it. Well, the humidity anyway.
Awesome schedule on your agenda Patti. Enjoy WDW and see you at DL!
I’m super excited about it all Pam & Christine! I’ll be looking for you two at DL for sure!
