Spring Race Plans | Tuesdays on the Run

TOTR 2 small 300One thing that helps folks (especially those up north!) push through the winter running is the promise of the glorious Spring racing season.

We know you have plans, let us see what they are!

Did you enter any new races this year?  Revisiting old stand-bys? And I want to know who’s running Boston?  It’s my favorite Monday of all Mondays!

Shout it out and let us know what the Spring of 2016 looks like for you. Link up with Erika, Marcia and me for this week’s Tuesdays on the Run!

Spring Race Plans

In the “if it’s not broke, don’t fix it” category, I have two Spring races planned.

The Princess Half Marathon and Enchanted 10K are up first.

I’m running this one for the 6th year in a row.

It’s where my half marathon journey began, and I’m excited to get back to see some familiar faces.

I’m NOT super excited about the course, but at least, it’s not new and scary like the marathon I just completed.

Or as long.  Ha.

Even though I say this every year, this time, I might mean it.  This is most likely my last Princess Half.  I’ve experienced Marathon Weekend, and I’ve developed a taste for it.  Same course, different medal if I run the Donald.

I might be down with the change.

The Phoenix Half Marathon is the weekend following Princess.

I ran this one in 2014, signed up again for 2015 but skipped it because of the timing (was getting back from a trip the night before the race), and I’ve missed it.

The vibe was a ton of fun!  The course is gently sloping downhill: no issues on legs or knees, but it was a fun feeling of letting gravity take control.

This race runs on the 2nd half of the Marathon, so as a bonus I get to see the winners fly past me somewhere along mile 7.  I’m odd like this, but I LOVE to see the fast folk cruise on by.  It’s an awesome way to “cheer” a race and run it at the same time.  Also why I like the out and backs.

I know, I’m a weirdo.

The Dark Side Challenge: Star Wars Half and 10K at Walt Disney World.

I’m legit running this one for one reason alone.

This medal:

I’m not a big “run for the medals” person anymore.  I mean, I like them, but it’s not the sole reason I will pick a race.

BUT.

I had a dream when I started running Disney.  That somewhere in a theme park far, far away a Star Wars half would be run.  And then they would hold two races, one on each coast, for an epic coast to coast medal.

it's true

And that will conclude my Spring running.  It may even conclude my half marathons for a very, very long time.  I’m feeling a strong pull to step back, regroup, and focus on the shorter events.

I haven’t decided for sure, but that’s what my thinking is right about now.

Do you have any Spring races on your “must do” list?  Any you have regretted not signing up for?
