This probably was a long time coming. There are new security measures in place at the Disney parks including metal detectors and banning of all guns (real or not).
“We continually review our comprehensive approach to security and are implementing additional security measures, as appropriate,” Disney said in a statement Thursday.
What does this mean to you?
Allow for extra time in the coming visits to make it through the entrance.
Be patient.
And of course, leave your weapons at home!
Toy guns will no longer be sold in the parks as part of this measure.
Reports are also saying no one over the age of 14 may wear a mask in the park (think Halloween parties). The Orlando Sentinel takes it a step further saying adults will not be able to attend the parks in costume at all.
Wow, right?
Makes me wonder what the runDisney policies may change to. I think it’s safe to assume that ALL guns (Star Wars runners, take note!) will no longer be allowed.
What do you think about these changes? Will you feel safer with these systems in place?

There were a lot of people wearing masks at Avengers, though, and those have been prohibited by rD for ever. They just didn't seem to be enforcing their rules. So I'm not sure it would make a lot of difference even if they did add a new one.

Enforcement would be a nightmare!

I think it was a matter of time, and I'm surprised they haven't done it sooner. Obviously, VERY glad that no major incidents have happened (that we know about) at Disney in regards to security but you never know. I will gladly go through a metal detector (like I do at airports, and even my tiny little county courthouse) if that means that me and my family are safer.

It doesn't bother me, but I do wonder how much it actually helps in the long run. For now, just take your patience with you to the parks, right?
