Course Changes for Star Wars Dark Side

If you check the runDisney website today, you may notice there’s been an awakening in the staging of the Dark Side races.

Both the half and 10k show new course descriptions.

If you ran either race last year, you knew there were two big issues with ending at wide world of sports.

The immediate issue: no beer sales that early. So those looking to cool off after their race were destined to hydrate with water.

The other issue was the bus lines.

Redonkulous is putting it nicely. Stupid and absurd are other kinder adjectives. I try to keep things PG13 so I won’t say I really felt about it.

With a finish at Epcot, these issues are both resolved. Bonus: if you’re staying at the monorail resorts you might have an easy walk to the start!

Have you registered for the Dark Side? Do you plan to?

  1. Kind of wish Disney would advise ahead of time where the line-up will be. I’ll book the Grand; and come to see that Disney is making everyone go to Epcot first and be shuttled to the start.. Cause that’s how they roll 😉 🙂 (though if I can afford the Grand, I don’t think I should worry).

    1. Ha ha ha! I know, it would help people have an idea of where they want to stay. If it turns out the start is easy to get to from the Monorail resorts, that’s prime sleep in location! Worth the money, right?!

  2. I haven’t yet planned or booked a Disney race, so reading about them feels like encountering a foreign land. Could a person who has only been to Disney figure out where to even go and how to make arrangements for a race?

  3. I was not the biggest fan of the inaugural Darkside’s course. I thought the start was super duper dark. In fact – too dark in some places. I saw some poor guy take a flyer on one of the road reflectors and do a total face plant. He popped right back and kept running. I asked him if he was ok and he said he was….
I also did not like that dirt road at the end – kind of running through the bushes on a sandy trail.
I will not be doing The Darkside again this year – but I hope the course and staging areas work out better for those participating.
